St Catherine’s School, Twickenham

St Catherine's School is a private girls' Catholic school in Twickenham, London. The school is adjacent to the Thames River and approximately two-thirds of a mile from the railway stations of Strawberry Hill and Twickenham.

The Sisters of Mercy moved to Twickenham in 1914 at the behest of Canon English, St. James's Parish Priest. The school was named after the Patron of the Superior, St. Catherine of Siena, who was responsible for responding to Canon English's request. The house in which the school was built still holds the name 'St. The Catherine's'.

St Catherine's is a school for Catholic girls situated in Twickenham near the lovely Thames River. We have over 100 years of independent education experience and invite girls of all religions and cultures to our joyful, thriving community where they can grow in self-confidence and gain growth in experience.

The school now has 440 students, with 110 in the Prep School and 330 in the Senior School. As was clear when we celebrated 100 years of success in 'Mercy' education in 2014, the charisma of the Sisters of Mercy is still very much alive.

St Catherine is a loving school in which every girl is empowered to explore her spiritual, academic and personal ability is St Catherine's. Two inspiring sayings inspire us. The first is our 'Not Words, but Deeds' school slogan, which captures our focus on action and group life. The second comes from St Catherine of Siena, after whom the name of the school is: 'Be who God wishes you to be, and set the earth on fire.'

Early registration for all ages is recommended for entry. Throughout the year, there are free weekends, afternoons and evenings, at which prospective pupils and their parents are welcomed. Visits at other occasions can also be scheduled. The school will accept applicants from any region and is able to accept advance registrations at any time for younger kids. Pupils of other ages, particularly if their family has moved into the city, will also be admitted into the school.
