The delicious, high-quality meals at The Clink Restaurant at HMP Brixton are cooked and served by the prisoners in training who are working towards gaining their City & Guilds NVQs in Food & Beverage Service, Professional Cookery and Food Hygiene.
Situated in the old governor’s house dating back to 1819, the air-conditioned restaurant allows prisoners to learn, engage with the public and take their first steps towards a new life. All the leather upholstery and boardroom tables are made by prisoners at HMP Frankland and poetry is from former Clink trainees. Conference & meeting room facilities available.
The Clink Restaurant at HMP Brixton is consistently placed in the Top 10 restaurants in London on TripAdvisor, and in 2017 all of our restaurants held the Number 1 spot for six months.
Clink Events provides bespoke catering beyond the walls of the prison and provides the prisoners in training the opportunity to gain experience in event catering. Food is prepared by serving prisoners training towards gaining their Level 1 and 2 NVQs in Professional Cookery in our central production training kitchen at HMP Downview and delivered to events in refrigerated vehicles.
Clink Events works in partnership with like-minded social enterprises and charities such as Centrepoint – the leading charity supporting homelessness in the UK. Service staff, made up of graduates of The Clink’s training schemes and disadvantaged people, are given intensive training and support in order to achieve a City & Guilds Level 1 NVQ in Hospitality. This education and work experience equips them with self-confidence along with the skills and ability to serve guests efficiently and professionally.
Clink Events are proud to be among the first organisations in the world to launch the brand new Global Certification for the hospitality industry, designed by City & Guilds and Worldchefs. Chris Moore, Clink Chief Executive and Jonny Whitfield, Clink Events General Manager, have been closely involved in the development of the framework to make sure it is fit for employers who work with casual staff
